Prof. Obianuju Adaobi Orji had her West African School Certificate from the Federal Government Girls College Abuloma Port Harcourt; with a Federal Government Schorlaship in 1984. She proceeded same year to the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where she got a B.Agric degree in 1989, with specialization in soil science. She obtained a Master of Science degree in soil science with specialization in soil physics from the University of Ibadan and a Doctor of philosophy in soil physics from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. She has done a lot of research in soil physics, soil conservation, soil water and crop- related studies.She underwent a short term training in 2014 and 2015 at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff USA, on the protective growing of vegetables using the hoop house technology. A technology she is currently mediating and championing its transfer to the Niger Delta and River State in particular.She was an intern in 2015 with at Agriculture Demonstration and Outreach Center (ADOC) Marianna, and at Seven Harvest Inc, at Forest City, both in AR, USA.
She is a professor of soil physics/ soil & water conservation of the Rivers State University Port Harcourt Nigeria. She served as a the Head of Department of Crop/Soil Science from 2015 to 2017 and asĀ the Associate Dean in the Directorate of Student Affairs of the same institution from 2017 to 2022.
She is an active member of the following professional bodies: soil science society of Nigeria, international union of soil science, soil science society of America, Agronomy society of America and a registered soil scientist with the Nigerian institute of soil science.
